Terry Brooks is my Tolkien.
When I was in 6th grade back in the mid '80s I somehow ended up with a copy of The Sword of Shannara. I fell in love with the world Mr. Brooks created for me and I have been reading him ever sense. In my childhood dreams of Elves and magic is was the land of Shannara that rose up in my imagination. I later came to love the brilliant world of Tolkien but Terry Brooks gave me my first taste.
His Landover series is supposed to be a bit lighter than his other works and I haven't started it yet. However, this morning I see that he is offering the first installment of the series for free. Since this has been on the top of my list as a next purchase I jumped at the chance.
